    All projects coordinated and executed by INP+ and its partners have the aim to strengthen at least 1 of the 3 core components: Advocacy, Network building or Service Delivery.

    Strengthening linkages for support and care for PLHIV in India

     
    Duration: 01 September 2003 – 31 March 2009
    Focus:
    • To strengthen Indian network of people living with HIV (PLHIV) by strengthening linkages for support and care for PLHIV in India.

    • To supplement and enhance the efficiency of care of PLHIV in South India through a pre discharge family counseling center at GHTM.

    Main activities:

    • Strengthening the capacity of INP+ [National Secretariat, State Level Network (SLN)].
    • Positive prevention program
    • Home Visits and Hospital Visits (CRSC & FCC – Hyderabad)
    • The leadership and Management Training Program (Healthy plan it).
    • Nutrition Program
    • Income Generation Program
    • Follow-up counseling training
    • Friend to friend talk program
    • Positive Children Program
    • Family Counseling Center (FCC) at GHTM, Chennai and Chest Hospital Hyderabad

    AVAHAN project

    Duration: 15 July 2004 – 31 May 2009
    Focus: To strengthen PLHIV networks for national and state level advocacy on health and work place issues.
    • Building capacity of INP+ and networks to equip them on advocacy programs to combat stigma and discrimination
    • Developing advocacy strategies to realize inclusive policies and programs related to HIV/AIDS in health and workplace systems

    Main activities:

    • Strengthening of INP+ secretariat infrastructure
    • Developing National MIS for INP+
    • Establishing and strengthening of State Level Network offices
    • Developing model district secretariat in each of the six states
    • Drafting the Advocacy strategy for the networks
    • Compilation of state directory of health care services

    Geographical coverage: Manipur, Nagaland, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Six high prevalence states; one district in each state. (map of India)

    HIV Prevention & Treatment Advocacy Project (PTAP), Tamil Nadu, India

    PTAP is an advocacy project to scale up HIV prevention services in Tamil Nadu, India.
    Duration:
    July 2005 – ongoing
    Focus: To support a broad-sweeping policy and programming shift to increase access to comprehensive prevention services alongside expanded treatment services in Tamil Nadu.
    Main activities: The project carries out a set of activities which could generate assessment and analysis of HIV programs in Tamil Nadu regarding responses of various sectors, networking of NGOs/CBOs, and advocacy action for the goal of informing and/or changing policies, programs and services. The activities include:
    • Holding and review of baselines and annual operational planning.
    • Skills building for advocacy on the expansion and alignment of prevention and treatment.
    • Development and assessment of strategies for community education and HIV messaging to promote prevention and the expansion and alignment of prevention and treatment activities.
    • Advocating for Positive prevention and Mobilization of PLHIV for prevention initiatives, with a view to making the GIPA principle (Greater Involvement of People Living with and affected by HIV and AIDS) a reality.
    • Strengthening NGOs and CBOs' participation in building linkages between clinical and community service interventions, inclusive of promotion of VCT.
    • Addressing barriers to accessing HIV related services including that of stigma and discrimination.
    •  Promoting community participation in the development of new HIV prevention technologies.
    • Development and implementation of Tamil Nadu-specific advocacy agenda.

    Orissa phase II project - Strengthen the state level networks for treatment access, decrease stigma and discrimination and improve care and support for PLHIV in Orissa

    Duration: 2007 - 2009
    Focus: To strengthen the capacities of Orissa State Level Networks of people living with HIV by initiating its districts level activities
    Main activities:
    • Formation of SLNs/DLNs
    • State/regional advocacy workshops
    • Capacity building – technical and soft skills – workshops
    • Supporting DLNs
    • Strengthening the state secretariat unit
    • Providing PLHIV the link to services, counseling, support group meetings
    • IEC campaigns and events
    • Strengthening the monitoring and evaluation process

    Sarvojana project: Challenging AIDS related poverty; intervention with ownership; diversity; reach and innovation for poor and the marginalized communities in South-India

    Duration: January 2006 – December 2009
    Focus:
    • To reduce poverty and improve the quality of life of the poor and the marginalized communities either affected or vulnerable to HIV
    • To empower the civil society organizations to check the spread of HIV and reduce the impact of AIDS

    Main activities:

    • Forming community based voluntary counseling, testing, caring and supporting centers
    • Facilitating the communities to access these centers
    • Advocating the public and private as well as community agencies for actions against stigma and discrimination of the poor and the marginalized communities, either affected or vulnerable to HIV
    • Capacity building of HCP for the continuum of care to these targeted population
    • Formation and organization of coalitions to build capacities and manage similar future projects in Tamil Nadu.

    Strengthen abilities to manage and respond effectively to HIV/AIDS (SAMARTH)

    Duration: November 2006 – September 2011
    Focus:
    • Community Based Assessment of Quality of Life and Stigma & Discrimination; Strategy development and implementation of GIPA
    • Strengthen INP+ involvement in Country Coordination Mechanism (CCM) of GFTAM
    • Need based capacity building of PLHIV

    Main activities:

    • Undertaking Community based assessment of Quality of Life of PLHIV
    • Undertaking Community based assessment on stigma and discrimination faced by PLHIV
    • Formation of State Community Advisory Panel (SCAP) in the 4 USG states
    • Review of the existing Positive Prevention Training Module
    • Enhancing the levels of involvement of PLHIV in the ICCM
    • PLHIV Capacity building

    Post Tsunami relief program

    Duration: January 2007 - March 2008
    Focus: Micro –credit support to PLHIV

    • Formation of Social Group and Fund for innovative ideas

    HIVOS Project

    Duration: September 2006 - August 2008
    Focus: Strengthen the capacity of the State and District Level Networks to advocate, network and implement HIV/AIDS prevention through care and support program in Gujarat.

    Access to Care & Treatment (ACT)

    • Improving the survival and the quality of life of PLHIV and reducing HIV transmission.
